Common questions

  • What is an Exercise Physiologist?

An Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) is a university-qualified allied health professional who prescribes exercise as a clinical intervention. AEPs are accredited by Exercise & Sports Science Australia and specialise in exercise for people with chronic conditions, injuries and disability, as well as healthy individuals wanting structured, safe training.

  • Who can see an Exercise Physiologist?

Anyone. You do not need a chronic condition or an injury to benefit. Rise works with people managing health conditions, rehabilitating from injury, living with disability, returning to exercise after time away, and those simply wanting to build strength with clinical oversight.

  • What happens at the first appointment?

The initial consultation covers your health history, current concerns and goals, followed by relevant assessment of movement, strength and functional capacity. You'll usually begin some exercise on the day and finish with a clear plan for what comes next.

  • Where are sessions conducted?

Sessions can take place at Plus Fitness Gladesville, in your home, or within the community - whichever environment best supports your goals and access needs. No gym membership required.

  • Can I claim through private health?

Sessions can usually be claimed through your private health fund, depending on your cover. Claims are made directly with your fund, not on the spot.

  • How long is a session?

Initial consultations are approximately 60 minutes. Follow-up exercise sessions typically run 45–60 minutes depending on your program and capacity.

  • What should I bring?

Comfortable clothing you can move in, supportive enclosed footwear, a water bottle, and any relevant medical information such as referrals, imaging, specialist letters or a management plan.

  • Can I claim sessions through funding or health pathways?

Exercise Physiology may be claimable through NDIS plans, private health insurance extras (where Exercise Physiology is covered), Medicare via an eligible GP referral such as a Chronic Disease Management plan, DVA, and some workers compensation or CTP schemes. Get in touch and Rise will confirm the pathway that applies to you.
